Bigger, bolder – and longer lasting? We wish. Russian lashes are the Kim Kardashian of lash extensions. They are kind of like regular lashes, but bigger and bolder. But just like Kim Kardashian isn’t automatically guaranteed a longer life expectancy than any of us, your Russian lashes are not guaranteed any longer life than classic lashes.
So what is the actual life expectancy of lashes? About 2-4 weeks. With Russian lashes, if you take really good care of them (and we mean really good care) you might be able to go 5-6 weeks without a touch-up, but that is unlikely. Most people will need a fill within 2-4 weeks.
How long can you actually keep your extensions for? As long as you keep up with your fills, your lashes can last for several months. With proper care and touch-ups, lashes can last a very long time. It is important to remember, however, that your real lashes will eventually need a break. So even if you intend to keep your extensions, take them off for a few weeks in between new sets.
Is there anything you can do to extend the life expectancy of your lashes?
Of course! Here are a few tips to take your lash life expectancy from 2 weeks to 4 weeks:
- Avoid water, steams, saunas, and sweat 48 hours after your lash appointment
- Do not pick or rub your eyes
- Avoid oil based products on your extensions
- Keep your extensions tidy with a gentle lash brush
- Sleep on your back, not your stomach
- Avoid waterproof mascara. Actually, avoid mascara altogether.
There is no guarantee on how long your extensions will last. It depends on your lash cycle and how well you care for them. But if you are willing to put in the proper maintenance, you should be able to keep your lashes fresh for at least 2-4 weeks before needing a fill.
