How to Prepare for Lash Extensions

Hey there Glam Babe! So you’ve decided to book you’re first set of lash extensions! We’re super excited for you! But before you get too excited and jump right in, there are a few things you need to do to prepare first (that your beautician may not have told you about over the phone!):

1) Get a patch test

Not all beauticians will make you do this, but we highly recommend it. Why? Not everyone responds well to the glues used to apply lash extensions. And the last thing you want is to have an allergic reaction once they’re already on your eyes (trust us, it’s not pretty!). So if you aren’t sure about your allergies, request a patch test 48 hours before you go – it could prevent a disaster.

2) Take a shower

You won’t be able to get your lashes wet for 48 hours after they are applied. So in most cases, this will mean avoiding the shower. We know, this isn’t ideal, but trust us it will all be worth it in the end! But to avoid extremely greasy hair for the next few days, take a shower right before your lash appointment.

3) Take off all your makeup

The day you go for your lash extensions, avoid wearing makeup – you’re going to have to take it off anyways. Yes, you can still wear foundations and brow fillers, but avoid eye makeup like mascaras and eye shadows.

4) Arrive early

It’s always important to arrive at your appointment 15 minutes early. Your lash appointment itself can take up to two hours, and there’s usually matters to be dealt with beforehand as well. This will give you extra time to fill out paperwork (yes, there will be paperwork), go to the bathroom, etc. etc.

5) Take out your contacts

If you wear contacts, take them out. Your eyes will be closed the entire appointment, so they could get uncomfortable.

6) Avoid drinking beforehand

As mentioned above, appointments can last between 2-3 hours. You don’t want to have to race to the bathroom in the middle of an appointment, so avoid drinking before you go.

Finally, relax! Sometimes not knowing what to expect can be extremely stressful, but lash extensions are actually a quite relaxing procedure. There is no pain involved and you simply get to rest with your eyes closed until finished! So enjoy your moments of relaxation, and the next time we see you, you will be all glammed up!
